The annual inflation rate in Sweden fell to 4.1% in March 2024 from 4.5% in the previous month and coming less than market expectations of 4.4%. It was the lowest reading since January 2022, as prices declined for the first time for food & non-alcoholic beverages (-0.7% vs 1.2% in February). Costs also decreased for communications (-0.7% vs 0.5%), and furnishings & household goods (-0.7% vs 1.2%). At the same time, inflation went down for housing & utilities (9.3% vs 9.4%), clothing & footwear (4.9% vs 5.1%), recreation & culture (3.1% vs 3.3%), and restaurants & hotels (4% vs 4.2%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.1% in March, slightly down from a 0.2% increase in February.
