Gold prices recovered for the second session, lifting major mining stocks by over 0.5%, including Barrick and Wheaton Precious. Additionally, during the earnings season, Agnico Eagle Mines exceeded first-quarter estimates after yesterday’s closing bell, pushing their shares up by 4%. On the other hand, TFI International missed estimates, resulting in a loss of more than 5%. Similarly, Imperial Oil’s quarterly results fell short of expectations, causing their shares to drop by 1%. Meanwhile, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, core PCE prices, came in above expectations year-on-year, increasing hawkish expectations for longer-lasting restrictive monetary policy.
